Apple Pay Coming to Mastercard’s cardholders in several countries in Europe

Offering an Easy, Secure & Private Way to Pay

Mastercard, in cooperation with its partners Banca Transilvania, Boon, Edenred, J&T, mBank, Monese, N26, Revolut, Slovenská sporiteľňa, Unicredit Bank,  today brings its customers Apple Pay, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay. With Apple Pay on iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac, customers can make fast and convenient purchases in stores, in apps and on websites. Apple Pay will now be available to Mastercard cardholders in Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Greece, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Mastercard Digital Enablement Service (MDES), uses the most advanced payment technologies – EMV, tokenization and cryptography– to ensure the integrity of cardholder information. Security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. When you use a credit or debit card with Apple Pay, the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code.
