The “Life Through a Different Lens: Contactless Connections” series, a digital event organized by Mastercard in collaboration with La Biennale di Venezia, to celebrate the 77th Venice International Film Festival, continues with Gia Coppola, Wim Wenders and Luca Guadagnino.
Mastercard proud supporter of cinematic magic, new talent, different perspectives and new adventures - invites cinema lovers, students and enthusiasts to join an exclusive occasion to discover how stories told by great filmmakers can create an impact that lasts far beyond the film itself.
Gia Coppola, already acclaimed with her debut film, Palo Alto, returns to Venice with Mainstream. Gia has breathed cinema since she was a child, starring in two films by her grandfather Francis Ford Coppola, the episode of New York Stories and The Godfather III, working on the sets of Somewhere for aunt Sofia Coppola and as a creative consultant for Twixt, also for grandfather Francis Ford. A talented young woman who already has several short films, two feature films and some music videos under her belt that denote her versatile personality.
Wim Wenders (born 1945) is considered one of the pioneers of the New German Cinema of the 1970s and one of the most important representatives of contemporary cinema. In addition to multi-award-winning feature films, such as Paris, Texas (1984) and Wings of Desire (1987), he has also created several innovative documentaries such as Pina, Buena Vista Social Club, The salt of the earth and Pope Francis – A man of his word. Wenders is a director, producer, photographer and author; his photographic work has been exhibited in museums around the world, and his output includes numerous photo books, film books and collections of essays.
Wim Wenders and his wife Donata Wenders live in Berlin. In 2012, they founded the non-profit Wim Wenders Foundation in Düsseldorf, which brings together Wim Wenders’ film, photographic and literary life’s work by restoring it and making it permanently accessible to the public. The Wim Wenders Foundation is also committed to promoting young talent in the field of innovative cinematic storytelling through the Wim Wenders Grant.
Luca Guadagnino, the most international of Italian directors, nominated for 4 Oscars, 4 BAFTAs and 3 Golden Globes for Call Me by Your Name, has formed a long partnership with actress Tilda Swinton, star of I am love, A Bigger Splash and Suspiria, which accompanies him since his debut. Luca Guadagnino this year is present at Venice International Film Festival, also with the short Fiori, Fiori, Fiori! focused on the figure and work of Salvatore Ferragamo.
The “Life Through a Different Lens: Contactless Connections” Conversation Series are an opportunity to bring young people closer to cinema and creative experiences. In this exclusive series of events, we will explore the role of the director, actor, cinematographer and all those in the film world, in building the stories that not only help us see life through a different lens but connect us to new worlds, changed worlds and different worlds, filled with priceless possibilities.
