Peter Reynolds
Executive Vice President, Real-Time Payments

     

Peter Reynolds is the executive vice president for real-time payments at Mastercard, and a member of the Company’s management committee.

In his current role, Peter leads teams focusing on building and operating Mastercard’s real-time payments infrastructure, which powers the UK’s real-time payments, settlements and direct debit system, including a network of nearly 70,000 ATMs and provides similar payment solutions to customers including Singapore, Thailand Philippines, Peru, Saudi and the United States. He is also driving Mastercard’s expansion into new markets, while bolstering the company’s technology platforms, and maximizing their potential to capture new payments flows.

Prior to joining Mastercard in 2022, Peter was chief information officer of corporate services and global payments at ANZ Bank, where he led corporate services and payments technology across 32 countries, including faster payments, cross border, open banking, financial crime and digital currency developments. Previously, he spent 5 years as chief technology officer at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and also established one of the UK Government’s technology innovation labs.  

Peter holds a PhD in Strategy and Entrepreneurship, awarded in 2010.  He subsequently spent five years as a researcher at Massachusetts Institute of Technology researching digital innovation and digital ecosystems, global governance, and organizational transformation. He continues as an Industry Research Fellow to this day.
